I've been working on learning GIMP and all it's features. S-L-O-W-L-Y I'm beginning to get it (I'm not in a position to spend $$$$ on Photoshop, and from what I can tell GIMP will suit the needs of a hobbyist like me just fine). Anyway, I was playing around with some shots I took of my kids while my son was home for Christmas and I like the way this one turned out. (It looks even better when not constrained by the 1024 pixel size limit). This was shot on our porch using my Canon xsi/450D, 55-250 IS, and an on-camera speedlight for fill. All I've done in software is to clean up a few blemishes/acne and turn the background monochrome. I left just a touch of a brown/reddish hue to the background.
