Does it use both battiers at the same time? Or does the grip use one battery first and when that is done, it starts on the other one?
How do you know when one of the two batteries is low/needs a charge?
Can you use just one battery in the grip?

Thinking of buying one today, mainly for the vertical grip.. i carry two batteries with me everywhere so i don't really need the grip for the extra length in batterylife.

Thanks in advance.

You can use one battery in the grip. If two batteries are used, then they are both used simultaneous.

Bought it, it's pretty pricey but i really like it, takes some time getting used to it.
The store manager said that the batterygrip uses one battery at the time and not both simultanious.. i really don't care since i only use one and keep the other one in the bag.

im not sure exactly how it works but id occasionally check the battery info when using the grip. i have a 60d as well, and it shows for each battery how many pics were taken with each. seems like they alternate in a way. but usually one is a bit higher than the other in terms of use

Have used Canon battery grips for many years shooting sports. One battery always was way more discharged than the other when it came to charging them post shoot.

This is my experience with the Canon grip on my 5D.

Mine uses one at a time...at least it seems to as one takes much longer to recharge than the other if my battery shows 50% left.

Yea, that menu is great and it shows both statuses of the batteries. Guess the clerk was right.
But to me it feels safer to just use one battery in the grip and once that is discharged, i can switch to a 100% fully loaded.
