There is a big number of people there with a truly twisted perception of women, which is comparable to that of the dark ages.

Nathan Can you repeat the question, please? More info | Jan 28, 2013 09:54 | #5 This may be a bit naive, but I hope any Turkish members here could help in the effort... even if just passing the story along and make sure people know her face. Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

I don't think anyone is blaming her for getting killed, it's just not a good idea to travel alone these days. Sad that it ended this way. Gear List | Feed Back | My Site

I do hope that she is ok, but I kinda doubt it. I spent a lot of my summers growing up as a non turkish/non muslim american in Istanbul. She went to Istanbul, which is certainly where east meets west... Beautiful city with amazing culture and very warm people. It's not like she went to Trabzon or some of these far away hillbilly towns where women can only show their eyes. I don't see any security concerns, as New York and our big cities are farrrr more dangerous to travel. She herself looked turkish, so it's not like she stood out from the fray. It's a sad story, but in the pure numbers game, it's far more unsafe to take pictures in NY or Chicago, than it is in Istanbul. Someone just got shot driving down lake shore drive the other day... It happens everywhere. Hmmmm I mean I've been to NYC many times and have never feared for my life. But I also don't travel alone either... nor and I a 100 lb house wife that's never been over seas before. Gear List | Feed Back | My Site
