Licensing Question.

So, I am a civil engineer by day and ended up taking some photos of one of our projects this weekend.

I would like to offer my image to the lead architect and their firm, but don't know how to go about describing and documenting what rights I would like to give them.

Basically, I want the architect and their firm to be able to use the image to promote their business. Company flyer, website, resume, magazine article about the firm or the designer, all ok. Things like selling the image or using it to promote a third party would not be allowed.

Can someone put me on the right track?

Approach it like any other job from a photo perspective as far as selling your work is concerned.

HOWEVER, also figure out where your income comes from. IF you make more from Photography than engineering, sell the picture. If not enjoy the pictures and don't sell them.

There may be repercussions from your boss when the architect calls complaining you tried to sell him the picture. Better see if your company wants to buy the picture and GIVE it to them as a gift. Last thing you want to do is damage a business relationship worth more than a picture. Screw it up and you may be a photographer by day and an unemployed civil engineer.

VERY WISE CHOICE..... You are a man who is wise beyond your years.

You will make points with everyone on that which will far outweigh anything you could have gotten in cash....

Of course now you are going to be expected to take pictures of the next project too..

So you just want a contract to define the rights you're giving them?
