or the amazon basic at 30$?

Need a backpack because my shoulder bag is killing me.

Medium side, will contain a 6D+2-3 lenses. Maybe another body. I guess there's no place in both lowepro with 2 bodies with lenses mounted...

Mainly for city but I plan to go mountain a bit. Nothing very serious really. I will travel light and dont need to carry all my photography stuff.

That's about it! I'll come back in 8h to see if anyone could shine a light. So long and thanks for all the fish!

ps; the Fastpack is 91$ and the Flipside 89$ here. That mean the Fastpack is better deal while the flip is overpriced.

I have owned the Flipside 300 and 400, as well as the Fastpack 200, 250, and 250 AW.

Flipside is better for carrying more gear, IMO. I favor the Fastpack series as I like the top compartment - I use it to carry things like rain jackets, water, snacks, etc. The 250 AW is my go-to day pack as well as for hiking.

The I never really use the Fipsides the way they are intended to be used - that is, buckle the waist strap, release the shoulder straps, and use the pack as a sort of "table," if you will. Plus the flap never ever stays open by itself - I found it annoying, others don't mind it.

Why is the Fastpack a better deal and the Flipside overpriced? Based on the amount of gear you can carry?

Because the flipside is 70$ on amazon.com while the fastpack is 111$. US price.

Thanks for your reply! very appreciated. I am suprised that the flipside can carry more.

I've just read that the Fastpack feel very huge, like a turtle shell. I think that's not really what I want for city use. I'll go with the Flipside!

thanks!

I just returned the fastpack and got the flipside. The flipside is way smaller, much more narrow profile, better layout, cheaper too. And it's got great security if walking in a crowded urban environment.

And if you do use it as intended, it's an excellent design.

And I agree with the OP. My shoulder kills me from a shoulder bag.

I was looking for a backpack too - looked at many of the photography backpacks, including the two you're considering, and just didn't like the way any of them felt on my back. I have a Lowepro Slingshot 202 AW right now which absolutely murders my shoulder within an hour or two of using it. Based on all this, I finally decided to go for a real hiking backpack instead, and bought an Osprey. I am currently in the market for a good insert for it to hold my photo gear, and have an active thread with suggestions from others for various inserts.

If you're looking for comfort, it's tough to find. I'm sure it exists, but not that I could find in my price range! You can get a pretty nice hiking backpack for $100.

I got the flipside 300 in black. Any smaller one (and I did want smaller) is not deep enough for the 1 series, or a gripped camera for that matter.

As to the sport, it's not new really, and is not nearly as clean or trim as the original. It's got flaps and strings all over the place. The tripod holder is a bit of a mess, with a huge flap to cover it. The one on the regular flipside, where it comes out of the bottom is much better.

Also, the sport is quite a bit more money. It does have a place for a water bladder, but I've read of people whose leaked, and so a bladder and equipment doesn't mix as far as I'm concerned.

Well, I hear ya. But I think you're missing the OP's point. He said he wanted something simple for a light carry kit.

I've got so many bags, I don't even have room to store them. It's sick really.

Recently I spent over $400 on the Gura Gear Bataflae. It's a great bag, super comfortable with a heavy load. Yesterday I hiked up a ski slope with it to take shots. When carrying a heavy load for long distance, a proper backpack is the way to go without question.

That said, there is a place for a lightweight pack such as the flipside.

I also have a slingshot. In fact, I have the 100, 200 and 300. Yes, they do get uncomfortable after a while. That's why I bought the flipside. For my camera and one or at most 2 extra lenses, it's perfect for a 2 hour hike.

Those 3 in 1 type bags look and sound nice in theory, but I found the Kata and Tamrac versions uncomfortable and poorly executed.

Yeah I was looking at the evolution 6 and the Kata. I think they are both too small to be confortable. I am probably going to get the flipside. I just need to drop by the store and see the colors for real.

I just got my Fastpack 350 AW the other day from Crutchfield. I LOVE IT! I had a Manfrotto Veloce V and this Lowerpro is so much more comfortable and holds a decent amount of stuff. I do not feel that it is too big at all. The chest strap and waist strap really help make it feel like you are carrying hardly anything. I have all my gear in the bag. If you would like pics of it let me know!

Thanks Ratjack! I will not need the pictures thanks. The Fastpack 350 AW is the bag I would buy (I love the look of it)to carry lots of stuff but right now I am searching for a medium sized bag. Something slim that's just going to get 1-2 lens. The laptop sized 350 AW is too large for what I plan.

I plan to get it next time I travel though!
