Hi,
Is there anyway to know the shutter count of a 5dc without sending it to canon?
Does magic lantern shows it?

It does not. Canon is the only way.

Send it to me, i will take it apart and check the analogue counter inside.

1Ds (Killed by bird crap), 5d2 (never to be taken apart!), 300d IR (fianlly put it back together), 35L, 40mm pancake, 85mm 1.8, Tamwrong 28-75 2.8 (really good lens!) and a load of spare parts!

Oh is there an analogue counter inside? That's interesting, I always wondered how they check it at service. Is it possible to do it yourself?

Here's the thing-
what would you consider to be excessive?

The body should do 150,000 shutter actions before it is considered at risk of failure.

So would you buy one with a count of 100,001? Probably not. even though it is only 2/3 through it's life.

If the seller sells camera gear they are either a dealer or a pro(/semi)
But I know amateurs who will take 1000 shots on a day out.

The older the camera the great the risk.

On the whole if a camera is going to break prematurely it will fail one week after the warranty expires.

The 5Dc shutter is rated at 100k not 150k like the 5d2

I found someone who sell a 5dc for only 350$.
He said that he replaced its shutter 1 year ago and untill now he almost didnt use it, it was his backup camera.
He doesnt know what was the shutter count when he replaced its shutter so I guess I cant know how much he really used it untill now.. :(
Are there any suggestions?

Yes buy the damn thing. It has a new shutter so the total actuations are irrelevant and the price is way low.

And if the shutter goes out just send it in for a new one? Even with the cost of the camera + the cost of a replaced shutter you will be in a good price range for what things are going for on the used market.

Last month I bought a 5D with unknown shutter count. If the shutter goes out, I'll replace it and have a 5Dc with 100,000 shots left on it. I don't see the problem. Same logic applies to my no-longer-under-warranty 60D. Fix it for $300 or so, or spend a LOT more to replace it.

The shutter count is only a rough guide-line. A shutter can fail at 150,000 shots, or 25 shots, or 399,999 shots. Even if you knew the shutter count you still don't know when THAT shutter is going to fail. Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy it.

How do you lose like $100? If the one you're considering buying is $350 (and I'd buy it right now if it were local and I could check it out), and the shutter happens to go (if it was really replaced last year, I find it very hard to believe it would go again so soon), then even if it does go you're still around $200 for a new shutter, meaning you'd have a body that's been sent back to canon and had the shutter replaced (and know it for a fact) and otherwise tuned up, etc, and still be at $50 less than the $600 one in 'good' condition whose shutter could fail at any moment for any reason.
