I am looking to get additional softboxes for my Genesis lights. Currently weight the costs of getting PCB softboxes and separately buying low-cost speedrings that fit my lights because I'm not fond of the framing of the Nova softboxes that Calumet markets for their Genesis lights.

Any idea why the price of the Red Wing speedring (external link) at B&H jumped from $15 to $50 in less than three years? B&H lists two others priced at $10 (external link) and $18 (external link). Why the huge price difference? They don't look all that dissimilar than the Red Wing.

There should be several sources of Elinchrom adapters on Amazon or eBay.
An other alternative is to get a foldable soft box from Fotodiox. http://fotodioxpro.com …genesis-strobe-light.html (external link)
I have several of their octaboxes and they are well made. Not a hefty as the Buff boxes but acceptable.

Unfortunately, their adapter rings won't fit in the Buff boxes.

Unless I'm wrong, it seems like the cheaper foldable softboxes aren't designed to hold their grids. It looks like you can get grids only for the Pro Studio Solutions EZ-Pro softboxes. Can you confirm?
