Nice images, the first 2 a little oversharpened for my taste but I'm reasonably sure that is a black backed jackal rather than a side-striped jackal. The black tip of the tail is the tell-tale (pun intended) differentiating trait.

Ah! Indeed. The Side-striped appears to have a WHITE tail tip. Corrected in the Flickr Set.
