Is it CS or CS2?
You need a plug-in called Adobe Camera Raw.
You can download it on the Adobe website: http://www.adobe.com …/photoshop/cameraraw.html (external link)

Follow the installation steps since it needs to be in a specific folder to be recognised by PS and Bridge.

Yeah QueenBee, you need Adobe Camera Raw plug-in.....
I dont know if it came with the Photoshop or not but
it is Adobe's plug-in for Raw images......
you can get it here.....
http://www.adobe.com …/photoshop/cameraraw.html (external link)

Can you see Raw images in Explorer ?????
if you can't you must be hooking up ur 20D
directly to the computer to transfer images
don't do that instead use a "Card Reader"....

Hope it helps.......:)

CS does come with the Camera RAW plugin but since CS was released before the 20D, it doesn't support the 20D's raw files unless the plugin is updated. This will be true of any camera that is released after whatever version of PS you have. And vice versa, if you have a camera that was released before the version of PS you're using, you shouldn't need to update the Camera Raw plugin. (So, if you have the 20D with CS2, you shouldn't need to update).

When I got CS2 I found that the ACR was version 2.4. Since I wanted the newer version, 3.3, I had to got to the Adobe site and download and install the newer 3.3 version which comes tangled up with the DNG converter.

It was my understanding that the 2.4 version did not support certain cameras.

Version 3.3 is much improved with things like "Curves" and an Auto feature on the sliders, and the ability to save to this or that file format without leaving ACR.

I suspect you might have had ACR 2.4 hanging around on your system from an old install. Creative Suite 2 Premium shipped with ACR 3.0, and I wouldn't be surprised if the standalone Photoshop CS2 shipped with ACR 3.0 as well.

Camera support increases with each new version of ACR - 3.3 beta is, I believe, the current version. I'm still on 3.2, as I have no need of the greater camera support in 3.3 beta (I'm using a 20D).

There are limits on which versions of ACR work with which versions of Photoshop - you can't install any of the 3.x ACR releases on Photoshop CS. ACR 3.x needs Photoshop CS2, or you can run it (with, I believe, reduced functionality) in Photoshop Elements 4, and, I believe, Photoshop Elements 3.

I believe you need Photoshop CS2 and ACR 3.x to apply a curve in ACR. Another advantage of having CS2 is that you can save ACR settings into .xmp sidecar files, and manage the whole lot from Adobe Bridge.

I've been thru that. You need Camera RAW 2.4 (supports 20D, 1DMII). Please note that Camera Raw 3.0 or higher is not compatible with PS CS(notCS2). In other words, Camera RAW 2.4 is the last update for PS CS raw support.

Yes, Camera Raw 2.4 Update (external link) is what you want for CS.

I put this in the wrong place:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=127466

Basically I have CS with CR2.4 - and can't open the RAW files from my brand new 350D in Photoshop. Support for the 350D wasn't added until CR3.2. I think I'm just going to check out this Adobe Lightroom thing.
