Why is it that every time i manually focus while holding the shutter halfway, its takes a picture as soon as i get a focus confirmation. its driving me nuts. Id like to tell the camera when to shoot thank you.

Sounds like a problem with the adapter to me...Does it do the same thing with a Canon EF(or EFS) lens mounted directly to the camera?...I suspect that it won't.

Some AF confirm chips have a focus trap feature. I think only the Optix v5 or newer, and the Dandelion. Maybe now the cheaper ones have it too. You probably have that enabled. The chip basically takes the shot once it sees something in focus. Although I think that is supposed to only work if you fully press the shutter button and then focus, not half press it.

While I'm pressing the shutter halfway and adjusting focus, as soon as it beeps, it fires.

In that case, are you sure you're only half pressing? IIRC the 60D buttons are rather mushy.

Tried BBF? (Back Button Focusing). Then you de-couple the focusing from the shutter release...

+1. This is the obvious answer. Once you get used to BBAF, you'll never go back.

Yeah, you're pushing just a little too hard. As focus hasn't been acquired, it won't shoot.. until acquisition.

He's manually focusing, whether AF is set to back button or shutter button will make no difference.
