A couple of years ago, flickr wasn't too bad. You could expect some quality photos to show up in the top 500.
Today, the website is a total joke. There is no way of sifting through the crap to find the good stuff. A lot of what makes the top 500 on explore is just horrible photography. 
And I'm not even that picky about the quality of other people's work, either.
1X sometimes has some good photos, but they seem really stuck up in only showcasing bland, snobby, "fine-art" crap that all looks the same. That website is borderline lifeless, IMO.
500 px, is really turning out to be what flickr used to be. I can go to their popular photo section and see a great variety of awesome work, right away. 
I love that website and the way it is handled and laid out.
Are there any other sites comparable to 500 px?
