So I would like to see some portraits or any interesting images really from a 24-70 mark2 at 35mm f2.8...why?
Well I might sell my 50L and buy a 35l but I could also buy a 24-70 II if I also sold my 24-105.
Lots of amazing images on here with the 35L but seeing a comparison with Canons latest standard zoom might help me make up my mind, I know the bokey will be sweeter with the prime but the zoom has more usability and could replace 2 lenses.
Thanks for any input

Being a zoom...I don't have anything right at 35mm (have lots at 24 and 70 though!)
Don't use this lens nearly as much as I should, but I did use it almost exclusively on a recent disney trip. It's a damn good lens, and I really should make a point to utilize it more. It's sharper than my 85L and 50L by a pretty wide margin
47mm f2.8:
50mm f2.8
41mm f2.8
39mm f2.8
The 24-70MK II has a very pleasing bokeh and is fast enough to blur the background nicely, but you don't get as much subject isolation as the primes wide open. There's a place for both the primes and the 24-70 2.8II (and 70-200 2.8II) for portraits, IMO. They each have distinct looks to them.
