A pair of Great Horned Owls have built a nest in a very public place in Melbourne. The nest is only about 7 feet off the ground in an Oak Tree right next to a busy sidewalk and street. It has two (2) chicks in the nest, one of which is in the below photograph (the other one is asleep).

I am not disclosing where this nest is, because it has already attracted too much attention by people wanting to photograph them. Security guards have this morning placed security tape around the area to keep the overly excited people away. It seems some were climbing up the tree trying to get photos with cell phone cameras. Even people who should know better are disturbing the nest. I was told one "photographer" showed up early this morning with a 500mm lens and was taking numerous FLASH photographs. The adult is coming to the nest with food for the chicks under the cover of darkness.

Very nice image Ira. You are fortunate the nest is so low which gives you this straight on shot.
