Homeless

So the chick that stopped going home 20 years ago told me that the homeless pets at the local animal shelter deserved proper headshots to promote their adoption process. Knowing that this was more than a suggestion, I took the shooter to the shelter and provided the them with images that they could use to promote their cause.

Great pic and an even greater reason behind it! I'm going to try to do the same thing this spring when I've got some time. Were they pretty cooperative with you coming or did you have to do most of the work yourself?

That's great capture! Even though the dog is homeless, there is still a gleam of hope in its eyes for the better. I hate seeing homeless animals, I've had pets all my life and they were and are still part of the family. If I had all the resources I would adopt all the homeless animals!

The people at the shelter are happy I come out but they do not have time to help with the portraits. The best they can do is have a one of the kids doing community service walk the dogs before they bring them into me. That helps. It is tough. Most are excited and want to play and being the big kid that I am I want to play too. I spend some time with them wrestling and throwing a toy. I find that they let me know when they are ready and I can usually get a decent pose of out of them.

Thats great i just started doing somthing simliar with our local animal shelter, taking photos at their adoption events where i will be taking photos of the animals that get adopted. I just did it for the first time this past weekend and all the dogs they brought (only three) were adopted out. The women who runs it said they have more dogs but because help isn't reliable she trys not to bring too many. So hopfully next time we'll be able to do more. Great photo BTW!

Chester (1st pic) has adopted new humans. Reportedly, 4 of the 8 dogs that I have shot in the last 10 days or so have new homes.

I've actually been looking into volunteering with the local Boxer rescue, taking shots if they're interested. I'm extremely excited about the possibility.

Thanks. I'm actually waiting to hear back from them now. I filled out the volunteer paperwork as well as linked them to my online portfolio in the email I sent with my contact info as well as my history with Boxers.

Unfortunately, I no longer have Sunny, but hopefully I can help some other Boxers get new homes in the meantime until I can get another one.

I got an email from the rescue I'm interested in volunteering at and they love my work! SO excited to work with them.
