I want to shoot a collonade, and have the nearest column closeup and all the others in focus. I know this can be with the tilt feature.

How is it done? Do I keep the tilt in neutral, focus on the hyperfocus point down the length of the columns, then tilt back to the nearest one and shoot? Or do I focus in neutral on the nearest column, then tilt down the length of the collonade and shoot?

I've done it before with my TS-E 24mm. Rotate your lens so that the tilt function shifts back and forth horizontally. Then, in live view, keep the tilt at neutral, focus on the nearest column, then put your live view on the column furthest back and tilt until it comes in focus.

Honestly, there are equations and rules as to which degree of tilt you should use and when, but most often, it's just trial and error.

Thanks a lot. I've been looking all over for an explanation.

There are lots of resources online to explain how to do this, but this is probably the simplest one:
