I haven't stumbled across a forum on here, just wondering if there's a section I've missed,, or if someone could recommend a good forum in another area.

I have a few chemistry related questions with Kodak chemicals for b/w film processing.

You know, it's odd, I thought that there is a thread in this section dedicated to people posting their film shots, but I can't find it, maybe someone else can point the way, that way you could at least find some fellow film shooters all in a "bunch".

In the meantime this thread I'm linking to probably has an active buch of film shooters chiming in:

By the way, I'm not "blowing you off" as to attempting to answer your question, but I never did darkroom work. And, since this forum is "focused" on digital photography, you may need to hunt and peck to find people here with the knowlege you are seeking.

And then, I would if I were you keep searching/scouring the Internet, I'm sure there are sites and answers for you there!

I appreciate it Tony, and fully understand. I know there are probably quite a few that started with film, and most likely a few that still dabble! Looks like photo.net may be a good place for me to start.

I don't know photo.net, but if it has a lot of film shooters, it sounds good.

But, know that there actually are a good number of folks here, not only ones that "started" with film (and doing their own darkroom work) but a fair number who either continue to shoot film along with digital or who have actually stopped shooting digital and only shoot film!

So, it's entirely possible that there are some here who can answer your questions, it's just a matter of getting their "attention"!

So, part of my trying to give you at least some helpful encouragement is the hope that responding to your thread will keep it "visible" to people looking for active threads!

javapop,,, it's quite appropriate to ask questions about B/W processing in these forums. There are quite a few members right here who have shot and processed film,, me including.

Thanks people! Great! Here was the thing I needed to ask: I inherited a several packs of Dektol with my enlarger.... it probably isn't outside the date; but when I mixed it, could not get all the granules to dissolve. It's been so many years since I actively used it, could remember if this had been an issue, and what I need to do. Any advise?

We do have a film thread here. It's in the POTN Lounge for some reason, probably because it didn't fit anywhere else.

Mate,, it could be the water you are using is too cold. Try heating the water to about 21 degC.
