I took this last Saturday in Dublin Zoo. I've been trying to get a photo of this amazing face for months. I finally had the briefest moment where I reeled of a few quick snaps. I think I had fate on my side because it might be the only shot I took that wasn't badly affected by noise.

It's one of my favourites in my first year of this hobby.

I can only dream of what it the thrill is like for a real wildlife photographer to capture something like this in the wild.

Thanks Ian. I love them. I'd spend half my savings if I thought I could get a decent shot at shooting these genuinely in the wild. Such an expressive face. I've been hooked since seeing them up close at a centre in Golden, BC and watching Living With Wolves on Animal Planet.

Real nice shots Ian! Some of your shots show lots of emotion in the animals... something I'm missing.

Anglia... that's just north of London? That's it I'm going there. I would really love to get shots without the mess of shooting through a wire fence. I'll bundle together a trip there, Marwell and Cornwall next Summer.

Thanks Joe, these were all through fencing too, but the keepers were talking to and feeding the wolves which made it so much easier to get the emotion.

If you pay the society (it all goes to Wolf charities), you can even take the wolves for walks !

Great photo and worth waiting for :) We have no wolves in our zoo, but I do love them, they are one of the most gorgeous wild animals.
