Am I seeing this right?

BH had the 70-210 f/2.8 LII IS for ~$1999 w/rebates until this evening if I recall correctly.

Now it's...... $1999 -- without the rebate. :D

Other lenses are similar -- or identical -- in price changes.

Hmmm.... or am I mis-remembering what I thought was there?

Can't see it happening now, with Canon's MAP policy.

Glad I bought my lens this week. I was not going to assume the rebate was extended again.

Yeah, they were just changing prices. Looks like the 70-200 II is back up to $2300ish.

Glad I got another one the other day off Amazon. I have two now, but plan on selling the one I had been using the past year shortly. This way I got a brand new lens and a 'fresh' warranty, for almost no cost at all. Considering I can probably unload my 70-200 for $1975 or so now that rebates are over and resale will go back up. Not a bad deal... Second time I did this, actually. Did it last year as well and paid like $25 in the end for a brand new lens/warranty after shipping/fees.

I am not sure that you can sell it at that high price this time. Canon prices are on the decline nowadays.

Fuji XE-1, Zeiss ikon, Hasselblad; I love shooting film as a conceptual idea :)

Japan is devaluing their currency as we speak, are they not? Maybe we will see lower prices of say 10 percent?

I also think the recent low prices on the top of rebates are related to this. Canon may be giving extra incentives to the retailers. Rebates probably will be back in couple weeks to a month.

I bet you I can! The only reason resale prices were so low on the used market is due to these rebates going on for the past several months. Now that they are gone they will go back up. I think I will get $1925-1950 at minimum. The fact the lens just came back from CPS and was cleaned and adjusted and all that will help as well. I might even throw in some CPS swag to make the deal sweeter, too. :D

I did his same exact thing last year as well and got the price I wanted. It may take a week or two to sell.... This lens is now $2300 again, so $1975 is a great deal for it. A week ago, you could buy it for $2000 so obviously the used market had to be quite less. Just have to give it a week or two and you will see prices go back up again on all lenses that were on these $200-400 rebates.

In all honestly though, even with a small loss I'm fine. I like to have the newer lens for whatever reason although it makes little difference since I baby my stuff so much anyway. Weird quirk I have I suppose!

the minimum advertised prices doesn't seem to have much effect...except that you have to add it to your cart to see the actual price...

This was also a very long strong where the rebates never seemed to end. In the past, I'd check out the rebates each time, and they would sometimes persuade me to buy a lens I was the fence about. This time around, the rebates just kept going and going.

I think we might see prices firm up a bit, and then perhaps come down again with the next round of rebates. I'm not sure if prices will go back up to where they were about a year or 18 months ago.
