If true, and its sensor performs as well as the K-5 II, then Canon will have a bit of pressure to up their sensor technology.

Yes, I'm sure. Probably closely related to the D600/D800/Alpha 99 sensor.

No matter what sensor it is, I bet it will be better than anything Canon has to offer. Beating and outperforming Canon's sensor tech isn't much of a challenge these days.

If the Sony sensors weren't pressure enough already I don't know what is.

True, Pentax is but a tiny mosquito buzzing around Canon's ears...
Sony (and Nikon) are the Davids aiming to down the slothful Goliath... :D

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Yup. A day (more like a couple years) late and a dollar short.

I am (rather was) a long time Pentax user. But, I just couldn't wait any longer for them to get off their duffs and make a full frame DSLR. Every year it was the same thing and every year the same rumors were spread.

I ended up with a D600 and now all my beautiful M42 Takumars are gathering dust. A sad thing to see since they were my go-to lenses for many years. Sure wish they worked on my D600.

I hope they pull it off this next year, but somehow I doubt it.

If true, cool! I've always had a soft spot for Pentax.

I have a Pentax K-5 (ASP-C) and with the Limited edition prime lenses and 12-24 Pentax W/A....I'm really taken with how good this equipment performs.

A full frame Pentax, if it is the equivalent of the K-5 will be something exceptional. Pentax is a very old and fine optical company (1919) and I hope that Ricoh ownership will allow them to fulfill their p[otential.

Pentax doesn't make many of their lenses anymore. That's the job of Tokina. Same reason why so many Tokina lenses have identical versions with the Pentax name. So, Tokina will have to upgrade its production facilities to support a full-frame Pentax.

It seems to be still a challenge for... Canon ;)

Aren't both under the Hoya umbrella?

Anyway, it's a shame to see what happened to Pentax. My first DSLR was an istD only because I wanted to use some very nice Pentax glass I already had. Even new it was well behind the curve. It didn't take long before my eye started wandering.

By being so inexplicably slow to jump on the digital bandwagon Pentax is going the way of Kodak. It's just a matter of time.

I think that was only when Hoya owned pentax and tokina both. Ricoh bought Pentax a couple years ago, so who knows if that pertnership still exists.

Pentax has a lot of momentum with the excellent K-5 and K30. Now would be a good time to capitalize on that. Only problem is they've been killing off all their FF lenses for years now.

Momentum in everything but sales. The K-30 has been a hit, but Pentax has hovered around 5% market share going on 5 years now. (Since the market has expanded since the 2006-ish numbers, that Pentax retains much the same market share suggests more sales and possible revenue, though.)
