I know its not the best shot but it was at the end of the day and light had left us but was wondering is this a redtail with the pigment disorder? Luecism I think, if so its a first for me.

Yep, a leucistic Red-tailed Hawk. For some reason, of all the dozens of leucistic Red-tails that I have seen, all but one had a completely intact tail coloring and pattern.

Hi, it is an adult Red-tailed Hawk. Some use the term leucistic and others use partial albino for birds with a few or many white feathers that are normally dark.

No intention to hijack this but is this the the same type, "leucistic red-tail hawk", as the OP?

Yes, and an amazing photo! Beautiful bird, and it shows much red in the tail, which is always nice to help with the ID.

Thanks Jerry for the ID. I've lived, hunted, and spent many many hours in the outdoors for 48 years and this is the first one I have ever seen!
