Specs:

  • Same body as the Nikon D4
  • 36 MP sensor without AA filter (external link), designed and made by Nikon, with some new improvements (moire (external link) in-camera reduction)
  • 6 fps (11 fps is the maximum possible fps with the current shutter)
  • Few video improvements
  • Price should be few hundred dollars above the D4 (currently listed for $5996.95 (external link)).
  • Announcement expected in fall of 2013

Since Nikonrumors is almost always right, we can pretty much take this rumor as a fact.

So.. Nikon is about to release another high MP body, with great DR-capabilities and without the pesky AA-filter?

Meanwhile, Canon is where?

You must have missed the announcement, Canon has 4 new Powershots available in multiple colors! Bet that Nikon won't be available in pink.:rolleyes:

It will be interesting to see if Nikon's sensor matches or bests the Exmore in quality.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I expect it to at least match the exmor. Releasing a new camera with a lesser sensor at a much higher price point would be kinda silly.

Because it is interesting to talk about the advancements and advantages of the main competition. And besides, there are loads of non-Canon related threads on POTN. :)

No one is forcing you to read these threads.

That sounds logical but stranger things have happened.

Because the "photography industry" is not comprised solely of Canon Inc.

Someone should tell Canon about that. In recent years they have often acted as if they exist in isolation.

As long as loyal customers are willingly to let canon milk them, the trend won't change!

I'm not so sure about the elimination of the AA filter (eventually they could make another model with a different letter as Nikon D4e) but all the rest of the specs seem very plausible.
And about the launch ... mmm ... perhpas something new on the 2014 or 2015?
Seem strange that this could happen this year ....

They don't.

Since this rumored product announcement is far ahead in the future, I would give it a credibility rating of 60% for now.
