This shot is a scanned slide from many years ago. It was taken at Alconbury I think. I believe I know exactly what is wrong with this shot but would prefer it if somebody else came along and ripped it to shreds. I could then reply and ask them how to fix it !

I like the shot, just think the saturations are a bit over done...only my 2 cents

Nice shot of that Spitfire. ;) I'm going out on a limb here and say there seems to be a bit too much Green in it. Either try adjusting your White balance, or try subtracting a little Green for starters.

Try less subject, more background. Then crop... to have the complete subject...

Thank you for the replies. At the risk of sounding patronising, which I am not, you are both correct but I do have a slight problem.
Many years ago I recall sending this off to get a Cibachrome print done. I hope you are old enough to remember Cibachrome ! Anyway when it was returned the print was rubbish and the slide had a greeny/turquoise band from about half way up to the top. The sky should be the blue that it appears to be at the bottom of the slide and I suspect that the damage to the slide has affected the colour of the Spitfire.
Now the burning question ! Can anybody tell me how to fix it please. Preferably using PSE3. If so can they please keep it in simple terms as I am absolutely useless with PSE3 and computers in general. Not particularly good I know if you are trying to get proficient at digital photography !
Tried subtracting green with the result that the image started to turn red/magenta. Also I have not really touched the saturation. This is just how Kodachrome used to be.
Thank you for your replies.

Cibachrome! Man, they ROCKED & that should be a nicer looking shot!
Do you have a broadband connection? I'm not inclined to put the work into a 70KB file, but if you can send me a bigger image, I'd give it a try.

PhotosGuy, Don`t know whether you misunderstood or not. The shot posted is a scan of the original slide. I used to get loads of Cibachromes done by a company but for whatever reason they mucked this particular one up. Not only did they muck it up but when they returned the slide it had a greenish band across it from about half way up which has turned the sky turquoise and, I think, affected the colour of the Spitfire.
I scanned the slide and then had to change from TIFF to JPEG as PSE3 is limited with 16 bit images. I fiddled about a bit in PSE3 but have very limited experience so got it as best as I thought I could.
It is in a 70kB file because the JPEG high and medium settings are too big to post on this Forum.

Not what I was saying. Why put the time into fixing a 70KB file when you can do the same or less work in a 7MB file & have something worthwhile when you finish? ;)

Well, here's an unfinished preview. I'll look at it again tomorrow.

Sorry Snappa, but I lost track of where this thread was. I'm having a lot of trouble cleaning up the prop blur & could tell you what I've done so far except that I don't see where it would help if you can't duplicate it. I'll keep coming back to it as time goes by. I know it can be done, but am drawing a blank.
Meanwhile, maybe someone else has an idea?

I only have Elements 2, and am certainly anything but an expert, but I suppose the "Enhance" features are worked in much the same way. I did Enhance>Adjust Colours>Hue and Saturation. Then played with the Cyan and the Blue in there.(Changing the green made little to no difference to me) I then did Enhance>Brightness and Contrast>Levels and tweeked them. Then did USM 30/50/10. Ended up with Image A. As you have the big file, you should be able to finer tune things. And deal with noise.

Image B Was done by creating a seperate layer of the plane, then go through much the same as I did above so colours of the plane are not effects. And you could get an even darker blue for the top half of sky. (I only did it to what suited me) With the plane on a seperate layer you could also work to bring out a little more detail in the shadows of it, if you wished.
