This was taken back in '86. We got wind that the Shuttle was coming to Barksdale AFB so we hightailed over there. It's kind of sad to see the print in such poor condition.

Take a picture of it with your digicam! If it's framed and behind glass, just watch for reflections. I'll bet it's a cool picture. S2IS

I was in grade school and our teacher brought a media center television into our classroom so we could watch it. I was hooked right away... I shoot with a Little Canon

It was a gift. I need to find the video that I have of it sitting back in a corner and then later taking off from Barksdale. It was taken with the TV camera that the First Baptist Church of Shreveport owned ![]() take a quick picture of it with your digital camera Equipment: Canon PowerShot A650IS (semi retired) and Canon Powershot G10 (primary) and Rebel XT 350D w/18-55mm kit lens and Quanterey 18-200mm-- www.youtube.com/alexander1485

This is pitiful. I'll do something better tomorrow... You can probably get the big version here. Go to the Aviation Folder. Then Military. Then click get original. I'll put something better up tomorrow: My Foto Site It's hard to solve an equation if every term is an unknown.

From what I understand the entire plane was designed using only slide rules. Remember those guys? There were no computers to help them out back then. My brother in-law worked with "messages" relating to the SR-71's in England many many years ago. I always wanted to know what they were but he died without ever telling anyone... You should see the video that I have. I'm burning it to DVD right now. I thought that I had lost it. You can see both white helmets thru the windows. I don't know what they were doing? I doubt if it was film drop off. Possibly something needed to be checked? It had to have been one of the last flights that it made. Lots of security around it. If not for the extreme zoom of the tv camera the video would have been a non-event. That thing zoomed up tight. When the SR71 took off they zoomed in on the fuel over flow. It climbed out at what looked like a 70 degree deck angle. Made a sweeping climbing turn to the right and disappeared. Probably lost site of it somewhere around FL300... amazing. It turns out that they were there when the shuttle landed. I have never watched the tape that far. They got some good footage of it landing and taking off. I would have taken more but I snapped these two as we were driving. The trucks Master Clutch cylinder broke and the clutch pedal didn't work and I was trying to teach my friend how to drive with no clutch so we could get back home, about 80 miles away and he didn't want to stop. ![]() Manny Desantos
