Recently I've been scanning some old 35mm film strips to make contact sheets for purposes of indexing. In most cases I've filled all 6 slots on the film holder filling in the open gaps with black paper as Canon recommends. I had started to have a problem where 3 of the strips in the holder were coming out black with only vague highlights showing in resulting scans. The other 3 strips were exposing OK. It seemed to be corrected after I ran the scanner calibration in the Canon scanning utility. I would think miscalibration wouldn't have affected half the scanning sensors in such a way. The calibration I think only sets it's overall white balance or coloration.
Just wondering if anyone else has run across this.
