What's the first lens that made you say "Wow"

The nifty 50 for sure. It was my first foray into fast lenses. then that addiction led me to L's, and now there's no turning back

My dad gave me his EF 50 f/1.8 lens. This is the original made in Japan back in the 1980's (?)

First image I shot with it I was very impressed.

The Canon 75-300...

LOL, this and Canon 28-80mm

for me it was the FD 2/35mm SSC

Can't believe I've only seen one vote for the Zeiss 100 F2 Makro. That thing is amazing. I rented it and have been saving up for it ever since.

But the first wow was from upgrading from kit lens on the Rebel T1i to a 70-200F4L. Wow! That's when I knew that generally, the lens was more important than the body (depending on types of shooting of course)

Since then I've gotten the 35L, Sigma 85, and the 70-200 mk2.

Now I'm just debating between the 100 or 135 Zeiss F2.

I've had two "Wow" moments with the same lens. My 70-200 F2.8 IS.

My first "Wow" moment was when I first got it and used it for sports in 2008.

My second "Wow" moment with it was when I found from Canon Repair Service how much it was going to cost to repair it after the zoom froze up on it this past
August.

Just had another "Wow" moment with the lens when Canon sent me email wanting $300+ to repair the zoom for a 3rd time since August. My email question to them was what happened to the 6 month repair warranty from the first repair.

70-200 mk2 that I rented. Saved up and bought my own 6 months later.

I've yet to be actually "Wowed".

But I think it's because the peanut behind the camera not the gear. I suck. When I actually start doing good then I'll see what "Wows" me.

When I upgraded from my 70-200 4.0 to a 70-200 2.8. Couldn't believe the difference

My FD 50mm 1.8 It was the kit lens with my AE-1 and going from a 110 PS, I thought I was taking shots like you see in travel magazines, lol . It's what sucked me into the world of photography.

Wow. I had a great time back in 78 at Lens Tavern.
