What's the first lens that made you say "Wow"

What a piece of engineering.

The first real WOW came from the 135L.

135L. But then I sold it when the 70-200 2.8 MKII came out...go figure.

80-200f/2.8L. When I put the drainpipe on my EOS 3...wow...

It was my first prime: 50mm F1.8 => Bought 135L: WOW => Bought 35L WOW WOW WOW
Since then, nothing wowed me

The 500mm f4. It's been a cut above anything else I own, and never let's me down.

First one to make me say WOW was the Canon 70-200 f4L non IS when I stuck it on a 5D2, the last one to make me say WOW and also the loudest WOW was the 70-200 f2.8L IS MkII. The Sigma 150-500 OS still does make me say WOW on occasions when I get a great bird or plane shot though.

My 50 1.8 was the first lens that actually produced quality results but it was my first L that really blew me away. 70-200 f/4 L - I still love it because it's one of the few lenses that is actually difficult to get poor results out of. It's almost idiot proof IMO.

Rented the 70-200 2.8 IS Mk II. First shot, at 2.8 in the afternoon. WOW!! It was a nothing shot, but creamy background, locked AF in a second. Really made me a believer why everyone loves this lens. HATED returning it.

I've been lucky to own a couple of wow lenses - in no particular order these are the OM 16/3.5 fisheye, TS-E 17/4L, ZE 1.4/35, ZE 2/50 MP.

That said, my biggest wow came from a lowly Cosina 28/2.8 that was my very first SLR lens... I was out in the high Drakensberg at dawn, looking down Ifidi pass. The temperature was -22C inside our tent and the image still hangs on my wall. On reflection it was the subject (not the lens) that made the photo.

16-35L, so useful with FF and 1.3x

Canon 50mm 1.2L

70-200 IS II was definitely my first wow lens. A couple weeks ago I picked up a 24L II and 135L. My jaw dropped at the sharpness at 1.4 and 2 respectively.
