It is probably why I could get so close, the egret was busy pushing it yellow toes through the eel grass, trying to scare up some prey. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I glad you mentioned that, I went back to the raw and tried some adjustments. See if this is any better. F5.6/400 mm, no fill flash.
