Pocket wizard is a brand, they carry several products so its helpful to be clear which product you mean. As mentioned above those flashes have to be controlled at the head, but at roughly 1/6 the price you have to ask how much convenience is worth.

Sorry, I meant PocketWizard Plus iii's. This weekend I'm going to run through the gear guide that Elv posted (Thanks, on first glance its very helpful) and really think about my requirements, and go from there. I believe convenience will justify the extra cost for myself personally. I will be less inclined to take along all my flash gear the more involved the setup becomes.

Thought I'd post an update. I just ordered a second Canon 430 EXII, along with a Phottix Odin and 2 receiver kit for my 2 flashes, as well as a Gel kit and a speedlite soft box. I was seriously debating an Alien Bees kit, but I really need to practice with flash much more, and having a versatile/portable kit was more important to me at this point versus having more power. I will start experimenting with more modifiers in the future but for now I have everything I need to start becoming more experienced with flash photography.

I also "threw in" a Sigma 35 1.4 ; ) Very excited.

For now I just ordered a cheap Fotodiox 6x8" flash softbox. I already have a Cowboy studio umbrella kit. In the future I plan on a larger Octodome, but probably after I order more/bigger lighting.

Get Phottix Odin. Done.

Stay away from the primitive Pocket Wizard & Canon RT system.

I second!

Wow so many choices, my head is spinning.

Do the YN560 flashes work correctly with Pocketwizards (or similar) triggers? Can I control the output from my camera? That really is quite a price difference, and I really think I will do most of my shooting in manual power. I could buy 4 flashes for the price of 1 canon. The only question then is the triggering system.

The YN-622Cs are easy to use. You need one for each flash and one in the camera hotshoe. You simply install the batteries, set them to the same channel, select the appropriate group, use your camera menu to set their power settings, and start shooting.
