For those who say the 5D3 and 1Dx don't have trouble focusing in low light, it seems that Canon disagrees. ;)

I'm just hoping they can keep the accuracy while improving the speed.

i bet they don't confirm anything until they know for sure they can fix it, so that probably means the firmware is almost ready.

there's a big difference between 'focusing in low light' using AF assist and without.

personally, i've never had a problem w/ the latter.

To rely on bodies like those to focus with the AF ASSIST, it must be pretty dark, not sure if it would be worth a pic unless one likes flash-lit pics with dark backgrounds. But, fair enough, if theres a bug, good to have it fixed.

I thought it was a river in Egypt...

I haven't shot in extremely dark situations and haven't noticed an issue... but when I did shoot in dimly lit situations that I knew my other bodies struggled with, I was just amazed it locked on in the first place...

At ISO at 12800, f-stop at 1.4 and exposure time at 1/30s, I get quite a bit of ambient light. I am looking forward to this fix.

Imagine at 1.2 instead of 1.4 that would mean even more ambient light. :)
