"I just have one question about the 6D. Why will it take more time to register M-Raw to the SD card than it will take with full size Raw?"

Maybe because the camera captures the image in full RAW, and then processes it to downsize it to the M-Raw size.

If I remember everything right, it is the opposit on the 7D.
Raw: 15 in one burst.
M-Raw: 24 in one burst.

On the 5DIII and the 1D X it is the same as the 6D. M-raw gives smaller burst rate. So what has Canon done to M-Raw in the new cameras?

The 7D does have dual DIGIC though so it has more spare processing capacity. However, since the 2.03 update the RAW burst is 23 shots.

Does 60D has that too?
Doesn´t 1D X has that?

Affirmative. :)

Well, it's just that they really have an extended, detailed list of products being excluded and they don't mention DSLR bodies anywhere. Makes no sense at all... Makes me think the guy on the phone wants me to buy it after the deal period is over.

Played with a 6D in a local store yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised with how it felt. I had a 40D and recently moved to 5Dc. Here are my observations and thoughts in case you or anyone is interested.

The 5D is noticeably bigger/heavier than the 40D. I don't particularly like the additional size/weight and I would guess that the 5D3 is similar. The 6D on the other hand, felt much more like what I was accustomed to on the 40D. Maybe even a tad smaller/lighter I actually liked it a lot! It didn't feel "cheap" at all to me. I suppose its all relative...

The menus seemed very intuitive and packed full of all kinds of features to grow into (I'm sure the 5D3 is similar, at least in comparison to the bodies I have experience with). I just didn't have enough time to dive too deep into all of them.

I noticed the two additional AF points on the 6D's new 11-point AF system right away (this compared to the 9 point systems I have been using). Of course I couldn't give the AF a significant test in the store but it felt like an upgrade to me, especially compared to the 5Dc's archaic system.

The 8-way dial thing (that replaces the joystick) was definitely foreign to me, but I could get used to it in a few days. I wouldn't let the lack of a joystick deter me personally. The placement of all of the buttons on the right side of the camera was also new for me, but again I could get used to this. The experience kind of reminded me of getting a new controller on a new video game system when I was younger. The buttons do pretty much the same thing, they're just in different places. Oh wait... the top buttons were only single function :(. I did miss that a bit, but I'm guessing I could probably customize things to get it the way I want.

All in all, I was impressed. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

OP, I've been following this thread but I can't remember. Have you tried the two cameras you are interested in? I'm thinking you said your preferred store had the 6D but not the 5D3. If not, I would recommend trying to get your hands on each, even if its just for a few minutes. It might make your decision a little easier.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. My preferred store is one that isn't in the neighbourhood, so I wouldn't go there to try out the cameras. However I'm going to a local hypermarket this Wednesday and I'm hoping that I can play around a bit with at least the 5D3.

Don't know if the 6D is excluded from the deal. But the 6D is already so cheap right now (as low as 1.759 euro), so a deal isn't really needed... I think I'm just gonna head over to the local hypermarket on Wednesday to see it with my own eyes. Maybe they were just telling that to me on the phone so I wouldn't buy a 5D3 during the deal period.

Bad news. After I gave them a call on Saturday, I also mailed them to tell them that their website didn't mention anything about DSLR bodies being excluded. Today they mailed me back stating that they contacted Canon and they affirmed that the 5D3 was excluded from the deal and they have also updated their website with the correct info. :(

To bad..:( and how about the 6d?

Yeah...that test is astonishing. If noise is an issue this make the 6D SO compelling.

But like the article says... It's only visible with long exposure night shots. In all other cases the difference will be minimal, but the difference in AF is big in almost any scenario...

Hehe, I just installed Ubuntu in VMWare Fusion on my Mac Mini and then installed gphoto2 to retrieve the shuttercount of my 550D. It said 1205. To be sure it wasn't lying, I took another picture and after that it said 1206 so it seems accurate. :)

Here's my 2 cents coming from a 7D to a 6D.

When I'm taking pictures, it feels like I have downgraded my camera. Slower flash sync, simple AF, feel and layout of the camera. BUT, when I'm sitting at my computer and looking a the pictures I took, definitely an upgrade.

This is just a hobby for me, so the 6D will serve me well. I wasn't using any of the advance features of the 7D which is why I knew the 6D would work for me. If I were doing serious photography then I would want the 5DIII.
