Sounds like if you don't get the 5D3 you may not be able to sleep at night.;) My Grandpa told me to "buy the best and cry once."

Well it's just that if I'm spending so much (hard-earned) money on something, I want it to be (close to) perfect. And the price of the 6D dropped again today from 1.799 to 1.759 euro. Starting to get really interesting because the 5D3 is exactly 1.100 euro more expensive now (2.859 euro). However I'm not sure if the 5D3 will work with the EOS Remote app when using a WiFi add-on module. And with working I mean: taking pictures with the 5D3 by using the EOS Remote app on an iPhone/iPad.

I think the only camera listed as being compatible with the EOS Remote app right now is the 6D. The WiFi add-on module either requires the WFT Server software running or is controllable through a browser based plugin.

I finally got to shoot my first shows with my 6D last weekend. For the most part, I had no problems focusing with the outer focus points at f/2, 1/40sec shutter speeds and at ISO 6400 except for when the lead singer climbed up to the front of the stage beyond the coverage of any of the stage lighting. Even then, switching to the center point gave me instant focus lock.

bannedPermanent ban

The EOS remote app works perfectly on my android phone. The 6D reacts exactly as expected to instructions delivered via the phone. I would have loved an articulating screen on the 6D but ultimately I think I may end up using this more often.

Where did you find the 6D at 1759euro? Btw, the 5D3 costs 2765 at Redcoon.be and if you e-mail to Art&Craft about Redcoon's price, they will drop theirs to the lowest price on the market. So basically, Art&Craft will also sell a 5D3 at 2765 euro.

Both cameras lack any good AF point besies the center, making the lack of a joystick almost a moot point.

6D has AF down to -3EV and faster FPS than the 5D2. Surely "more pro" feature than the lack of a joystick! Wat are these, Ataris!?!? :p

I use outer points on the 5D II all the time and I don't have any issues. I don't need more FPS either.

Not sure if serious or...

I am still completely confused by what the big deal with the joystick is. I regularly shoot on both a 6D(D pad inside of the back wheel) and a 7D(joystick). I don't find either method of point selection to be difficult, nor do I have any trouble switching back and forth between the two methods. It seriously is not a big deal at all.

The D-pad is horribly unresponsive and hard to use. Unless they totally scrapped the design from the 60D and made a better one.

Digicamshop.be and that's shipping costs included! :-)

Wow. Can't believe this is 5 pages long. OP if you cannot make up your mind by now, it is best to get the cheapest option. You probably won't be able to tell the difference in this case. So low cost = least mount of cryin'.

I recommend the excellent Canon EOS 5D classic.

It's pretty responsive on my 6D. I may have to move my thumb an extra 1/8 of an inch from time to time as opposed to using the joystick on my 7D, but I'd hardly say that relegates this camera to Rebel status.

Indeed. The more something costs, the more I go through all the options/advantages/disadvantages over and over again. Plus the 5D3 isn't in stock at the store where I want to buy it. I'm starting to fall in love with the 5D3 AF, but it is so damn expensive compared to the 6D which works with the lovely EOS Remote app. However the 5D3 does seem to be a bit more future-proof than the 6D because of its versatile AF. Still haven't made up my mind yet, but I'm not really in a hurry. :)

I have never used a 60D before but the pad on my 6d is very responsive and I have never had any trouble getting it to recognize inputs.

I can understand some people not liking the positioning of the pad inside of the wheel since you have to move your thumb down to the wheel in order to use it but it took me maybe 30 minutes shooting to get used to that.

I think at this point you need some quality hands-on experience with BOTH cameras. If you could rent both of them at the same time and try both of them in various shooting environments, at some point one of them will "call your name" and the answer will be obvious. It will just feel "right." You can weigh the pros and cons forever in the abstract and still not make the best decision because there is another aspect to this that you can't define in a discussion forum. That's my story and I'm sticking to it, LOL. And yet, I really am fairly serious about this suggestion. ;)

Just get the 5D3. It is simply the whole package, and you'll always second guess your decision if later you'd wish you had the more capable autofocus system. The image quality of both are amazing and not even worth debating the subtle differences. The 5D3 is so d@mn amazing and perfect you simply will not regret it despite the cost. I do this same dance every time I'm going to buy a new/significant product, and every time I pay the premium I never regret it. I have never for one second regretted buying the 5D3, and that was at full $3500 USD price tag. I would do it over and over again without hesitation.
