Hello-

I sold my XTi a few years ago and picked up a Canon SXIS30 that has been great but should have never sold the Rebel! So I recently found a excellent condition T2i and got back into a Rebel.

The only thing that seems a little different than I can recall is the sports shooting mode. Seems like the XTi was spot on but the T2i has a slight lag when shooting???

This may be due to me so far being indoors and not enough natural light or if anyone else has seen this please give feedback.

Great to be here! Now I will be selling the SXIS30 to free up some cash for more T2i goodies possibly.

I don't think I've ever used the sport mode on any camera. Try AI servo and Av or Tv mode. That's what I use for shooting dogs at the dog park and never had any issues with lag since I picked the shutter speed I wanted (assuming your lens keeps up ie: 50 1.8 in bad light compared to a USM lens).

Welcome back! :)

I don't think the T2i has any "slight lag" when shooting but to get the best out of a DSLR you need to stop using the preset modes and start learning about the "creative" modes and shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc.

The t2i was my first dslr and i started out shooting football with a 55-250 (in daylight of course). I learned how to use manual mode and never experienced lag you mentioned. Not the best burst rate, but it made me wait and anticipate. But youll need fast glass for indoors.

Agree with others, T2i is a great beginning camera for sports. Until you're ready for full manual, go Tv, set it as high shutter speed as light will allow, choose manual ISO, as low as possible. Evaluative metering will likely be best for Tv.
