What a day! Late yesterday I got word of a great gray owl that was hanging around the outskirts of town. So instead of cutting wood as I had planned, I went to look for him first thing this morning and found him. I spent so much time with him, I nearly froze to death. I no sooner got home, than my birding buddy called and said she had spent the morning photographing a boreal owl just off her deck. So, skipping lunch, I roared back into town. He was so tame, I could have grabbed it by the tail feathers. Then, on my way home, I couldn't resist going back for more shots of the great gray, as the light had improved. I got back home in mid-afternoon, swilled a quick lunch, and still managed to buck up a half cord of ash firewood. I am now quite exhausted, but fortunately it is almost the cocktail hour.....
