The term for that is "clueless".

What is wrong with that? They are just helping air traffic control by guiding planes to landing strips. If you want to be promoted to master flight path assistant then get a Fong Dong ;)

Best thing to do is to is learn why the flash head rotates and spend your money on a lighting course before purchasing on flash diffusers. Not saying they are bad, they all have their uses if conditions are favourable however may times you can do an equal or better job bouncing the light from your bare flash.

Most popular or ones that pros like are bounce care style like the Joe Demb flip it or Rogue flash bender. Here is a good DYI which may cost between 5 to 10 dollars to make.

HMMM I use it like this for true fill a stop/ stop and a half down from the available and gel for the available color temp. Works really nice. Helps hold in the gels and as you can see and I taped the front so the harsher light doesn't cause shine or hotspots on the subject.

Allen. You showed me that a couple years back and its exactly what I have done to mine..and YES.. it rocks..Ive got a demb flip and i also use 3/5 cards and get awesome light...It does have its place. It works excellent at receptions especially if you select the color B/T 3500-3900 when gelled. The gold Omni actually does a great job because your spraying the same colored light all over the place:lol::lol:,,, But I prefer to gel $ bounce with 3x5's for flags for best results but have this set up like your when i need it

Mike I'm so glad it worked for you. I tried using just the gel without the omni and I found I was getting hot spots. I shoot at 1600 and 3200 ISO all the time so the room light comes way up and the flash just fills the shadows enough not to get the dreaded raccoon eyes. I do prefer no flash but there are times maybe 30% of the time the room will not give me the light I need so I use this. On some jobs in some rooms its a combo of both. But because I am using my flash as true fill light and gelling the color is fairly consistent as is the overall look of the job. I found the size of my card also to be about the best for quality of the fill light. Smaller cards I found to still leave hotspots. Some of the rooms I shoot in the tungsten is down to 2100K. I use a Metz 58 and the Nikon gels fit perfectly on that strobe.

Heres a job that I shot Monday that was very dim and the color temp was down around 2100K 6400 ISO. It was so dark the flash was in this case the main light.

Oh heres an all available from my Leica MM at 6400 from a job last week. (Sorry for the hijack) Wish all my clients would go B&W.

Damn, Wilt; you beat me to the that one :p

After learning how to, actually, use my flash the only thing this thing does is take up space on my shelf.

I bought one to see what the fuss was wall about. As previously noted, it works great indoors, especially in our rooms with white ceilings. Beyond a medium sized room, it robs light and I prefer my DIY ABBC clone to push light forward and/or allow bounce. Tried a Fong clone as well and it was awful...
