Hi folks,

A female friend of mine agreed to go with me and take some outdoor portrait style shots, maybe at a local park. She is a very beginning photographer and wants to learn some camera basics, and I have lots of (amateur) experience.

....but not taking portraits, which is why I want to try this.

I showed her some examples of styles which I like from the forum here, and she thought that they were too much like "fashion shots." So we talked and she was thinking about some pictures which are a bit more casual.

She is quite pretty and I still want to be able to bring that out, to help develop my skill. But are there good examples out there where the shots and poses may be more of a casual style?

Thanks in advance.

I reckon google is your best friend here... there are lots of posing guides out there - it's just a case of sifting through them and picking out the poses that are more casual.

There's a couple of casual shots at the bottom of this one:

Then there's a bigger set of poses at this one, but some won't meet the criteria:

Thanks Chris. Yes, google searching has been helpful. I like the examples of the threads you posted, and will discuss them with my friend before we do this.

Just a quick thought. Since she is quite pretty, you may want to google poses for <body type/ face type etc.

It is a good idea to have some angles in mind to flatter her good points and minimize her weak points.

Good luck
