Maybe it's American/southern/Texa​s humor.

A lot of construction type businesses in these parts keep their equipment on the company property. Often, much of the heavy equipment can be seen from the road.

So, upon seeing this business for the first time, one might assume that the cannon is employed in this company's business which is automobile stripping and rust removal. This is, of course, a little overkill, and therefore the humor.

I'll wipe the tomatoes off myself after quietly exiting stage left.....

Heh! I don't know about a "Funny Sign", but we have seen plenty of threads of photos that bring out "cultural interest", and that would be one of them!
