How do I attach my Black Rapid Strap

OK, I just purchased a new tripod and RRS ballhead. This replaces my Manfroto ballhead. WIth the Manfroto, I could attach my Black Rapid strap directly to the ring of the tripod plate when I wanted to. With my new setup, I no longer have that option without having to screw on and off the Black Rapid fastner every time, which will become a hassle.

Along with the new tripod, I bough an RRS L-Plate. How do you guys attach your Black Rapid straps to this combo?

TIA,
Jason

You could also get this clamp from RRS. If you look through the pictures you'll notice that this is meant for the setup you want. I also have this exact setup plus a safety cable just for when I mess up.

I have the Blackrapid Sport attached to RSS Clamp attached to RSS L plate.

That's what I use. That clamp and some Loctite and you're good to go. Haven't found anything better.

I use the 1 inch Kirk clamp with the Black Rapid screwed into it with blue loctite. I use the 1 inch Kirk clamps also with my Cotton Carrier. For the Black Rapid, I did also add an optech quick connect as a saftey measure..... You can get the Kirk 1 inch clamps for about $43 shippped if you take the "blemished" model. They are a rock solid clamp.

QUOTED IMAGE

I like the way that's using the actual strap connection. I've heard conversations about the tripod port failing. I try to push those thoughts to back of my mind, because I can't imagine these straps being so popular if cameras were getting smashed with any regularity. And my gear is also insured.

Connecting with the Op Tech, do you find that the camera flops around any more or less than it does with the tripod mounting point? Just as easy to grab it and pull it up to shooting position?
