Not to change the subject, but if you can affort to buy that stuff with your tax refund then you have your withholding all screwed up. Why let the government sit on your money for a year when you could be earning interest on it?

If he's Canadian he may have contributed to a Registered Retirement Savings Plan, which would explain the money back. My return will go to further savings, if that is possible.

I got $700 back, what kind of interest would I have had on that in a year? enough for a happy meal?

I think the government has banned anyone saying "jihad". Can't give the terrorist legitimacy. ;p

Hey, we are in financial trouble in Nevada. Not wishing you and bad luck, but, it would would be nice if you left something. Seriously, locals generally don't gamble, as they did not build those casino resorts from winners. Bypass the tables and slots, and take a side-trip to Zion, Death Valley, or Grand Canyon.

You already count on the visitors to pay for nearly everything, and if you are in need of money, just tax the tourists more. I went to rent a car for 4 days. Rental fee was $44 and taxes were $35 or so.

Actually from what I've heard, I'll have to get what I need from Amazon anyway because the two camera stores I called were out of stock on the couple lenses I might have bought new.

I wonder what rrsp's are called in the states? or if they have something similar

Yeow! Nearly the cost of a 1DX. Here, someone would probably pay me for the firewood value, or at least at zero cost. You must live in suburbia.
