These are fantastic. I tried water droplet photos a couple of years ago, the results were disappointing.

You, to me, are the best at this kind of photography, you always entertain with your shots. These are ALL very good too, you have mastered the paint drop (or bass drop) shot.

Yesterday I was looking at YouTube and saw a gun video completely unrelated and saw something that 'could be' beneficial to you, all depending, of course.
It was about gun silencers, they used a "wire pulling gel" inside of the silencers. So, I saw your shots this morning and thought, I bet if you used that, along with some colorant that mixed well with it, you'd get some 'different' beads and strings from your bass.

I don't know, I just thought it'd be worth a test, if you do, I'm sure you have given way more thought to all of this than I just did. heheh
For all I know you have either tried this, or better stuff, like thinner mineral oil, or thicker hair gel, etc. :D

Thanks for posting.

I'm familiar with the gel, I am a maintenance mechanic (over 24 years) so stuff like that is very common to me. The problem with doing these types of shots, at least for me, is where I set up. I use a small bookshelf as a "shooting table" for most of my smoke, water drops, lightbox, etc., shots, so I have to be somewhat careful of what types of liquids I use. I have to use stuff that's easy to clean, otherwise my carpet would look horrible. I'm too lazy to take the extra step involved in laying out a drop-cloth, so the carpet can sometimes take a beating. That's why I use washable paints.

The types of paint I use are pretty thick to start off, I water-down the paint into different bottles so I can have varying thicknesses of paint. I use stuff ranging from very liquid to very thick, each has it's own properties and makes the shots look cool.
