half of US is buried in snow, but we are lucky enough in southern Cal to still have these little guys around. had to bump up the ISO since they were in shade and it was close to sunset.

Nice set...but that second one should be on the front of a greeting or note card! Just something about the blending of the background colors that really adds to that shot. Well done.

Really like the 3rd shot best. Not just because the hummer is flying but because there is less distraction in the background. :)

thanks everyone. the spot focus of 5d3 was of tremendous help b/c it was so busy around the bird. for me, No 2, even though photographically may show some nervous bokeh, has a cool impressionistic look to it, which is SOOC. the bird in contrast is so sharp and detailed.
