I have done this a few times, the secret is Rain x. Car wax or any other polish will not work. I tried to the tune of one complete day. Clean glass with windex both sides. Apply Rain x on one side, place glass about 4-6 inches above what you want to reflect thru the water droplets. Spray top of glass treated side with water thru a clean spray bottle, water will in a few minutes puddle into droplets. I used a white umbrella with a 430 ex 11 speed light with a canon 60D tethered to my laptop with eos software shooting in live mode. Its takes awhile to get it right so don't give up quickly, here is a sample of one of my shots.

To tell you the the truth, i had never heard of rainx product until this thread. In fact, i dont think we have it here in my country. I assumed that it would be some sort of proprietry blend of waxes and oils that i could at least mimic enough with a high quality carruba wax whixh would be buffed well. I have yet to try this expeiment, but do you think that conceptually this is incorrect?

I have used the product and it has a petroleum smell, makes me think how water in gas forms drops
