So focal length corresponds to the distance from the human lens to the retina, not the distance from the lens to the eye chart! Who knew?

Another attempt. I was able to get 8 feet from the bird because it wasn't looking this way. G15, Tv mode, 1/320, f 8.0, exp comp -1/3, focal length 30.5 x 5.

Duane...is that sharp-shinned with a flash, that is spectacular?

Scriveyn - I have studied European raptors but of course I am not near the level of comfort with them that I am with N.A. raptors, but yes, it looks good for Common Buzzard.
