Also taken with my 70-200. I wish I at had at least my 300 f/4 on at the time. But sometimes you take what you can get. Because it is such a heavy crop due to the distance and not as sharp as I would like, it is techincally not a very good image...but...I really like the symmetry of the geese with the snow caps in the background, so it still works for me.

first, rather than clutter this thread with lots of posts praising image after image, here's a blanket "holy crap!" to so many of the shots posted so far. truly some amazing photography going on here.

here's a few recent shots at 200...I'm no birder but I've begun to see how it can be addictive.

Could you please post the data? I'm learning to shoot waterfowl, and I really like this one.

Thank you. Here is the data:

Camera:
EOS 60D

Lens:
EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS

Exposure:
Auto exposure
Aperture-priority AE
1/3,200 sec
f/5
ISO 100
Compensation: -2/3

Metering mode:
Spot

Continuous drive:
Continuous, High

Focus mode:
AI Servo AF

I had plenty of light so I set the camera to f/5, aperture-priority knowing I would get more than adequate sutter speed and wanted to control the DOF. Spot metering, AI servo, high speed continuous.

60D - EF 50mm f/1.8 - EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS - EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS - EF 300mm f/4 L - Tokina 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 Fisheye - Canon Speedlite 430EX - PowerShot G12
