my 70-200 f/4. my first "L" glass. this shot started it all for me. :

[IMAGE TOO SMALL, NOT RENDERED INLINE]

Awesome shot! I can never get those stellars to sit still long enough for a decent shot, and especially with good light hitting their dark face. The few I've been able to chase managed to stay in the shadows - messing with me on purpose probably.

Yes, it can be done, but it is work and you lose some shots. How? Hunting blind; pre-focused camera on tripod via remote control; sitting very still in camo; slow stalking; large crops . . . lots of ways, I've done it all those ways.

I upgraded to a 400/5.6 L prime early this year(and I immediately understood how it would be much better usually), but the marvelous EF 200/2.8 II L prime lens will always have a place too in my bag!

All shots below: EF 200mm/2.8 II L

Gear List

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
