Beautiful wax wing (is it a cedar?)

Thanks, it really is a beautiful bird and they're surprisingly agile for their size and weight. Those areBohemian Waxwings, the morning light just makes them appear more yellow.

One more I had exported previously.

I'm withdrawing my photos. Effort and enthusiasm can't replace equipment and expertise. I thought the point was to show what can be done with suboptimal gear. It turns out that gear can be too suboptimal. Discouraging.

Super shot of a Jay N.V.M. :)

Good idea for a thread which I'd like to contribute to as I use my 70-200mm all the time for close birds. Three recent shots with that lens:

Wait a minute. You guys are using telephoto lenses? I need a kindergarten-level thread for people who only have CAMERAS.

Wow awesome photos LV Moose! Love the colours, were you triggering the camera by a remote?

You forgot to add in the luck factor finding a cooperative subject but I do agree.....it's all about patience and taking advantage of a situation when it presents itself and no one said it was easy or quick. :D

I'm confused on your withdrawal to be quite honest. This thread is seriously the most level playing field possible. 90% of the shots are going to be done with a 70-200 2.8 and 4 or a 200 prime. Canon offers a 55-250 as a kit lens that doesn't do too terribly bad, I shot it for years. No zoom lens is "suboptimal" for this thread if you make a good frame.
