I had just bought the 40D and had only one lens, the nifty fifty. Looking for subjects to try out my new toys, I was hanging out my window and shot the gulls that were flying around the house. The responsibility lies with the photographer regardless of whether they have an 800mm telephoto and a pro camera, or a point and shoot. After all, it's the not the camera that has the knowledge of its subject, or scouts out good locations so it knows where to go and when to be there, takes light conditions and background into consideration, etc. -Liz

Here are some juvenile eastern screech owls I photographed (very quickly) with my iPhone at the rehab facility where I volunteer. From a photography standpoint it's not very attractive surroundings, but you can't deny the cuteness of these adorable baby owls! -Liz
