So less than a month with this camera and today I got the lens error. I was shooting a sunset, a couple of trial shots later, it shut down saying "lens error, needs to shut down" something like that. Tried removing & putting back the battery but wouldn't start.

Half an hour later, I tried again & its been working normal since then.
Not sure what could have caused it. I took it outside in bright light first time today, may be that ?

Since its working now, don't know if I should report this. Is this the same problem that is with the S100?

Thanks.

If you've had it a month and it's giving you any kind of error, I'd send it back for a warranty claim. I'm not familiar with the S110, but I have a SX120 IS, and the only time I got a lens error on that was when I accidentally turned it on in my bag and the lens couldn't extend. Maybe something overheated, or the batteries rapidly discharged.

How did you get it to work again then ? Did you do something or did you sent it to canon to fix it ?

That's happened to me and it just powers off. After a few seconds you can power it on and it works again.

I also had one that i dropped with the lens extended and it wouldn't retract. I finally sort of assisted it and it retracted fine. Then the lens motor worked perfectly again, but the camera could only focus close up, so I am sure I broke something. Sold it on ebay for half the price of a new one, oddly enough.

I've never as of now had that problem on my S100. If you haven't dropped the camera or accidentally opened the lens within a case...hmm? ...I'd keep close attention.

@ tkbslc & tmwag - Thanks for your posts. There haven't been any accidents with the camera.
I'll go out & shoot this weekend & see how it goes.
