I've been told by DNR that leucistic/albino redtails have been seen in eastern IA too, so I've been watching for one myself. The bird I'd LOVE to see is the leucistic bald eagle that has photos floating around the net. Body speckled in dark charcoal gray and the head and tail seem "whiter" than the average adult bald eagle. Looks like a really big snowy owl for anyone who hasn't seen the pics. I'd imagine I have a better chance of finding a white redtail though.

Feb 15, 2013 22:41 | #7 Thank you very much. I plan to go out again soon and photograph it. I hope I can do better this time. The bird is difficult to expose being so white, most of my images came out washed out. I hope I can correct that this time.
