OK, So I took recommendations from POTN and signed up online for a Photography work shop from Meetup.com.
It was to be a "Pinup thru the Ages" theme. I was hoping it would be more informative and instructional, but instead it was all set up and ready to shoot. I was hoping to learn about the setups, the lights and gels used, etc.
But what it was, was about 12 Photogs and 10 or so models. They had 6 set ups, and all I had to do was pick the one I wanted, get in line, and shoot photos. They had the ISO, speed and aperture already figured out for us. Each station had its own pocket wizards and "mentors" working the stations.
Of the 10 models, there was one that was HOT, 2 that were nice and very photogenic, and the rest were just OK, great considering Houston is full of ugly fat people.
All in all it was a good experience. For $125 I got 4 hours of shooting, and picnic style lunch. There is no way I could have pulled this off by myself, do the set up and clean up for that kind of money, so it was definitely a value.
Some of the Photogs had a suit case of lens and you could tell they were more experienced, mostly in directing the poses of the models.
If you are like me and learning I highly recommend going to one of thees.

1) my favorite photo and model, and I wasn't plugged in to the lights

That last one is crazy underexposed. The reflection in her sunglasses are no dice. #1 is the best, but her hair needs work (not you in photoshop, but her doing it properly). I like #5 but that's not high key at all.
