Another Snail

This one I found today was larger. I put him on the same metal drum from yesterday. He immediately started picking up rocks. I assume he uses them to make his shell? From what I could tell he would somehow suck them back into the mucus that lines the inside of his shell.

I tried reading up on line but initially found most of the stuff was about water snails.

btw: He was more than likely trying to get a grip on the sand since they travel on a single foot that relies on the tension of their mucus to stay planted. Snails don't "make" their shell per-say, they grow it.

It was 105 mm macro with extension tubes (all of them I think)
That's quite possible. I read that they make the shell from some mucus that lines the interior and some websites said calcium carbonate. I wasnt sure if they got that from breaking down the sand. The smaller one yesterday did no such thing.... Interesting to watch...
